Daphne Casdagli
In 1946 born in Cairo, Egypt of Greek origin. Left Cairo during the Suez Crisis and came to study in England.
From 1964 studied at the Sorbonne, Paris and at the Beaux Arts de Versailles. Then at Guildford and Farnham Schools of Art, finally finishing her training in 1972 in the painting school of the Royal College of Art MA (RCA).
After her initial experience as Print-room technician in 1973 at the Byam Shaw School of Art. She was appointed tutor andin the same year invited to teach at the City & Guild Art School under Sir Roger de Grey PPRA. She developed the Printmaking Department and became Head of Printmaking and Illustrative Arts, a position she held until she retired in 1998.
Invited as external assessor from 1994-1998 for Illustration, at Harrow School of Art.
On her retirement from teaching she was accepted as an Associate member of the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers (RE). Three years later she became a Fellow RE. For a few years accepted the position of Honorary Curator of the RE responsible for the Archives. She continues to exhibit at the Bankside Gallery in the Members’ exhibitions.
Moving out of London, established an on-going Life Drawing class in West Wittering. 2017 Exhibited at the Chichester Festival and a joint exhibition at the
Bankside Gallery.

In 1977 Daphne had a successful exhibition at the British Council Gallery in Athens during the few years of the Junta. In 1982 had a Trio exhibition at the same Gallery in Athens.
Daphne’s works are of original limited edition prints. Drawing the figure overa period of years has given her the idea to develop her drawings to a further stage with the useof printmaking. Working directly on the plate in front of the models, and returning to the studio, sometimes using a drypoint method on acrylic plate or etched on a metal plate. Drypoint is an extension of drawing. Her figure prints have been influenced by her continued work with the landscape.
